Hervé is an engineer, researcher and operator of the Puffin validator. His open-source contributions aim to evolve the chain so that users can trade with confidence. An early adopter of Frankendancer, he pushed its performance to the limit. Now he is designing an innovative scheduler for Firedancer, grounded in original concepts.
Validator Council.
The Validator Council reviews applications to the JPool Community Good program. Five validator operators decide which contributions to the Solana ecosystem receive Community Good support.
Why a Council?
Community Good exists to support validators who build something genuinely valuable for Solana: tools, infrastructure, education and research that other people use.
Building a website or a dashboard now takes an hour. The fact that a product exists says little about its value. We need people who know the Solana ecosystem well, who validate on Solana and build tools, and who can judge what is actually useful. That is why the review now sits with a Council of experienced operators.
Meet the members
Five operators with hands-on experience across Solana infrastructure, research and validator operations.
Lu is a software and infrastructure architect who operates large-scale validator and RPC infrastructure at Jupiter. He independently runs Validator 1 and is an active part of the Alpenglow cluster, auditing new code, running validators and onboarding new operators through the agSOL stake pool. On testnet, his oneSOL pool delegates to newcomers. He contributes to open-source validator software, including Firedancer and solana-validator-ha.
Viktor has run CryptoVik, an independent Solana validator, since 2021. He builds open tools and a public dataset that track how Solana stake pools and delegation programs distribute stake. He shares his research as notes and explainers in English and Ukrainian. Viktor is an active member of Superteam Ukraine, where he takes part in startup programs and hackathons and helps develop the Ukrainian validator community.
Blocksize is an active Solana infrastructure and data company focused on validator operations, open-source tooling, governance and high-quality market data. The team contributes to multiple oracle networks, including Pyth, and has supported the development of open-source validator monitoring infrastructure, the continued operation of the Solana Governance NCN, and early Alpenglow testing and feedback. Johann represents Blocksize as COO and brings this operational, data and ecosystem experience to the Council.
Vijay is a Solana validator operator and server hosting provider who advocates for geographic decentralization. With his hosting company Decentra Cloud, he helps move significant validator stake outside of Europe and the USA. He is passionate about promoting fair and transparent validators in the ecosystem.
Members serve a 12-month term.
How the Council works
A consistent process designed to reward work that can be demonstrated and checked.
Evidence first
Applications are judged on verifiable results: repositories, usage, public artifacts and third-party confirmation. Claims without evidence do not score.
Independent scoring
Each member scores every application on their own, without seeing other members’ scores, and writes a justification for each score.
A robust average
Each application needs at least four valid scores. The highest and the lowest are dropped, and the rest are averaged.
One public result
Only the final aggregated score is published. Individual scores and justifications stay confidential.
Conflicts of interest
Clear boundaries protect the independence of each review.
- A member does not score an application when they have a commercial, employment, hosting or infrastructure relationship with the applicant, or any other financial interest in the applicant.
- Each applicant can ask one named Council member to step aside from reviewing their application.
- During their term, a member’s own validator keeps its Community Good points but receives no delegation from the Community Good bucket.
The first Council cycle
From a refined framework to public results, the first cycle follows five stages.
Calibration
The Council refines the scoring framework.
New application form
JPool publishes the updated form and scoring framework.
Applications
All eligible validators can apply to Community Good.
Review
The Council scores the applications.
Results
Final scores are published and delegation is updated.
